1. Key Job Purpose

To ensure efficient running of the water treatment system and its supporting machines, giving maximum output, optimum materials (treated water) yields, and acceptable quality as per the agreed set targets.

2. Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure that the whole water treatment system is in good working order and efficiently operating.
• Perform CIP and ensure it is completed properly and within the stipulated time.
• Coordinate with line supervisors and quality personnel to fulfill water demands.
• Operate the machine while strictly observing safety and hygiene protocols.
• Ensure constant availability of raw water for processing.
• Operate borehole pumps, raw water tanks, and raw water pump stations.
• Monitor and record raw water volumes in storage tanks, processed water, and treated water, checking all required parameters.
• Manage wastage from the water treatment system and CIP processes.
• Maintain cleanliness of machines and surrounding environment at all times.
• Fill out all operational records during production to monitor equipment performance and water quality.
• Conduct reconciliation of raw water usage versus production output after every shift.
• Troubleshoot faults and report all breakdowns or abnormal machine behaviors to the immediate supervisor.
• Ensure all machines are switched off when not in use.
• Write SOPs for the machines and processes.
• Train and support development of other water treatment operators.
• Perform any additional responsibilities allocated from time to time.
• Follow GSM Beverages GMP and code of ethics.

4. Key Competencies, Skills, Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma in Food Science, Production, Water Quality, Manufacturing or related field
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Water Treatment Operator (experience with Krones or KHS machines preferred)
• Demonstrated ability to achieve 99% treated water yield
• Proven record of raw water stock management and 85% line utilization
• Safety-conscious and quality-oriented
• Strong communication skills
• Excellent housekeeping practices
• Knowledge and adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
