Job Overview
Lutheran World Relief, part of Corus International, is seeking a Technical Manager – Extension Services and Training for a five-year USDA-funded project aimed at transforming the poultry value chain in Tanzania. The role focuses on strengthening extension services, improving feed and health management practices, and building capacity for agricultural finance services across Mbeya, Iringa, Songwe, and Rukwa.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead agricultural extension services and training strategy for the Kuku Biashara project.
- Coordinate training development and implementation across project teams and stakeholders.
- Supervise all training and extension activities to ensure quality and consistency.
- Build capacity of staff and partners on extension methodologies.
- Manage deployment of Social Behavior Change (SBC) campaigns and other outreach models.
- Facilitate field schools, demo plots, and other farmer support models.
- Develop technical content, manuals, and curricula for extension services.
- Represent the organization in meetings with partners, LGAs, and government agencies.
- Contribute to monitoring and evaluation activities and report on project outcomes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Economics, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in agricultural extension and livestock productivity, preferably poultry.
- Demonstrated knowledge in CSA, market systems, and nutrition-sensitive agriculture.
- Experience with capacity building, curriculum development, and workshop facilitation.
- Fluent in English; Swahili proficiency preferred.
- Ability to work independently and engage stakeholders from various sectors.
Working Conditions
- Based in Mbeya with expected travel to other project regions.
- Must be available to work outside of regular office hours when needed.
- Hybrid or in-person work arrangements depending on organizational policy.
