Dangote Cement Plc is Sub-Saharan Africa’s leading cement company, with a production capacity of 48.6 million tonnes per year across ten countries. The company is looking to hire a qualified and experienced Senior Transport Manager to join their team in Mtwara.
Job Summary
Perform SAP-related activities for the Transport Department (Trained for TMS & MM) as a core user.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee the transportation department, including its assets and employees.
- Manage operational aspects of ongoing projects and serve as liaison between project management, planning, project team, and line management.
- Ensure customer goods move from production through the supply chain to the end user.
- Establish quality transportation services and develop partnerships with self-collection customers.
- Plan and implement departmental budgets.
- Supervise truck scheduling and movements.
- Conduct regular safety audits on equipment.
- Organize training sessions for employees on machine use and hazardous material handling.
- Maintain organized records of vehicles, schedules, and completed orders.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and shipping legislation.
- Maintain databases of sales, registration, inspection, and fleet maintenance.
- Monitor fleet operation for compliance with local and state rules and regulations.
- Ensure timely vehicle servicing, inspections, licensing, and statutory registrations.
- Prepare and submit monthly fleet status reports.
- Liaise with approved mechanics to ensure prompt truck servicing and repairs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Transport and Logistics.
- Master’s degree specializing in Transport and Logistics.
- Minimum of 20 years’ related experience, with at least 10 years specific to transport management.
- Professional qualification in procurement and logistics.
- Basic knowledge of computer applications and record management systems.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
- Effective communication skills.
