Job Summary
Marie Stopes Tanzania (MST) is seeking a qualified and experienced Research Manager to oversee research and program monitoring activities. The role involves designing and implementing research studies, analyzing program data, and ensuring high data quality standards to support MST’s core business and donor-funded projects. The Research Manager will collaborate with internal teams, global data quality leads, and MSI’s Global Evidence Network to enhance research and monitoring activities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Research Design, Implementation & Dissemination
- Implement MSI global research protocols, including Exit Interviews and Mystery Client Surveys.
- Design project evaluations and review consultancy work to ensure alignment with MST’s research standards.
2. Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Analysis for Donor-Funded Projects
- Work with the RME team to prepare quarterly and annual reports on key project indicators.
- Use MIS data to evaluate the effectiveness of service delivery and community-level activities.
3. Development & Management of MST’s Information System
- Support the establishment of an M&E-MIS system for data collection and analysis.
- Conduct data quality assurance at various project levels, ensuring accuracy in service delivery reporting.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Requirement | Details |

Education | Bachelor’s degree in statistics, epidemiology, mathematics, or a related field. |
Postgraduate | Master’s degree in public health, research, epidemiology, statistics, international development, or social sciences. |
Additional Training | Formal training in research design, impact evaluation, and research ethics. |
Experience | 4-5 years in research roles, including study design, fieldwork supervision, statistical analysis, and reporting. |
Technical Skills | Proficiency in SPSS and STATA for advanced quantitative analysis. Strong Excel skills for data visualization and reporting. |
Communication | Fluency in English and Kiswahili; ability to simplify complex research concepts for diverse audiences. |
Sector Knowledge | Experience in reproductive health research and working with routine health data. |
