ABOUT BRAC ENTERPRISES TANZANIA LIMITED (BETL)
BRAC is one of the largest providers of non-formal education globally. We have been running schools in Bangladesh for over 30 years and internationally since 2002. Currently, BRAC operates a global pre-primary school program in Bangladesh, Tanzania, and Uganda, and is developing Early Childhood Development (ECD) markets for 3-5-year-olds in the same countries through our ‘Play Labs’ project. In Tanzania, this includes operating 30 play labs in collaboration with the Tanzanian Government, funded by the Yidan Prize.
BRAC Enterprises Tanzania Limited (BETL) is a private, registered social enterprise in Tanzania. BETL aims to improve the development of 3-5-year-old children in Tanzania by piloting a cross-subsidy business model for ECD through a sustainable, low-cost, scalable play-based program. The team has recently opened five schools and is preparing to launch a mobile ECD program in Dar es Salaam.
POSITION OBJECTIVE
The Procurement Intern will support the overall procurement and logistics activities of BRAC Enterprises, ensuring efficient utilization of resources as per BRAC’s Procurement Guidelines and Procedures.
MAIN JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct procurement processes for acquiring assets, goods, services, and consultancies.
- Manage procurement aspects including quality control, specification compliance, monitoring, and verification of deliveries, plus timely delivery to the end user.
- Ensure fairness in transparent bidding processes and effective competition, securing best prices and value for money.
- Establish proper recording and monthly reporting systems for all procurement activities, including updated inventory.
- Verify invoices and supporting documents submitted by suppliers and submit them to the Finance Department.
- Prepare and submit weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports to the line supervisor for stakeholder dissemination.
- Ensure compliance with BRAC Enterprises’ procurement principles, standards, policies, regulations, and local statutory requirements.
- Lead supplier prequalification and maintain an up-to-date supplier database.
SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES
- Practice and promote safeguarding policies among team members.
- Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure for any reportable incidents and encourage others to do so.
REQUIRED SKILLS/CAPACITY
- Bachelor’s degree in Procurement Management, Logistics and Supply, Operations Management, Planning, or Engineering.
- Strong planning skills with the ability to work accurately and meet deadlines.
- Analytical skills with the ability to solve logistical problems effectively.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including fluency in
English, both written and verbal.
- Excellent negotiation skills.
- High degree of integrity and honesty.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Procurement Management, Logistics and Supply, Operations Management, Planning, or Engineering.
