ICAP at Columbia University is a global health leader situated within the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health in New York City. ICAP has a long-standing presence in Tanzania, where it supports health initiatives focused on HIV care and treatment, maternal and child health, and more.
POSITION SUMMARY
ICAP Tanzania is currently seeking a highly qualified Technical Advisor – Care and Treatment to be based in Dar es Salaam. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical leadership and expertise in HIV care and treatment services across ICAP-supported programs.
The role is contingent upon the availability of grant funding.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide technical guidance and oversight in the implementation of care and treatment programs for HIV services.
- Develop and implement strategies to strengthen the delivery of comprehensive HIV care and treatment services.
- Collaborate with local health authorities and partners to ensure alignment of project activities with national health strategies.
- Monitor and evaluate program performance and outcomes, ensuring the highest quality of care is delivered to patients.
- Support capacity-building initiatives for local healthcare providers through training and mentorship.
- Ensure compliance with donor requirements and national guidelines in all program activities.
- Prepare and present reports on program progress, challenges, and achievements to relevant stakeholders.
- Facilitate the dissemination of best practices in HIV care and treatment within ICAP and to external partners.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Advanced degree in Medicine, Public Health, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in HIV care and treatment programs, preferably in a low-resource setting.
- Strong understanding of the HIV epidemic in sub-Saharan Africa, including Tanzania.
- Proven ability to manage health programs and provide technical guidance to large teams.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in both spoken and written English.
- Experience working with donor-funded programs, particularly in the context of global health.
