PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Geological Assistant will conduct and participate in Grade Control activities, including surface and underground sampling, ore truck tallying, and other geological support functions, following GGM standard operating procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Completion of Secondary School Education Examination (CSEE).
EXPERIENCE
- At least one year of experience in a mining geology environment or the mining industry.
MAIN OR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Ensure that all geology works are undertaken safely, adhering to health and environmental standards.
- Implement grade control sampling procedures for underground and core shed activities.
- Reconcile drill core recoveries with drillers, manage core sampling, and ensure QA&QC procedures are followed.
- Oversee ROMPAD grab sampling and ensure the accuracy of sample labelling and packaging.
- Tally ore trucks from satellite ROMPADs and conduct ROMPAD grade control checks.
- Maintain clear documentation, including sample submission forms and end-of-shift reports.
- Uphold housekeeping standards at the ROMPAD and Core shed at all times.
- Participate in pre-shift safety and production meetings.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be physically fit to work in an underground mining environment.
- Good communication skills.
- Possession of a valid driving license is an added advantage.
