Position Objective

The Road Tracking and Monitoring Officer is responsible for ensuring that vehicles are properly tracked, ensuring strict compliance with company regulations by drivers, and reporting all cases of violation to Management.

Key Responsibilities

• Track truck locations using the IVMS system and ensure accurate data is displayed on the TMS systems.
• Monitor daily truck driver performance (50-plus vehicles) by analyzing night driving reports, over-speeding reports, and other driver violation reports. Report performance to the Road Operations Coordinator.
• Ensure strict compliance with company regulations by drivers, including speed limits and weight/height restrictions.
• Keep track of geo-fenced areas and ensure all trucks follow the proposed routes.
• Identify on-road exceptions and take immediate remedial actions.
• Report any suspicious behavior related to truck movement and driver behavior retrieved from IVMS. Coordinate and respond to emergency situations.
• Ensure all drivers adhere to Journey Management Plans and Road Transport Management Plans.
• Report breakdowns and accidents to the Road Transport Manager and follow up on recovery and documentation with subcontractors.
• Ensure daily driving hours and kilometers traveled targets are met by all drivers and vehicles.
• Control the number of persons in transit.
• Propose improvements in existing transport processes and systems.
• Maintain delivery schedules and track deliveries to ensure targets are met.
• Investigate delivery issues and report inefficiencies to the Road Transport Manager.
• Receive relevant trip/vehicle and driver documents from the transporter and ensure documents are uploaded to the system.
• Provide prompt assistance in case of accidents/breakdowns on difficult or isolated trips as per the emergency plan.
• Liaise with subcontractors to confirm escort arrangements for HLOOG.
• Ensure strict compliance with company regulations by drivers.
• Participate in all safety training as required.
• Adhere to all HSE requirements of the project.
• Perform any other work assigned by Management.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Transport & Supply Chain Management, Shipping & Logistics Management, Procurement & Supply Chain Management, Information Technology, or a related discipline.

Professional Qualification

• Extensive knowledge/experience of import and export from an international environment.
• Strong ethics in dealings with drivers, suppliers, and contractors.

Experience

• At least 4-6 years of relevant working experience in a similar position.
• Good geographical knowledge of Tanzania and local shipping/customs procedures.
• Knowledge of QHSE requirements.
