Job Summary
The School of St Jude is seeking a passionate and experienced Music Teacher to provide maternity cover at our secondary school. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging music lessons, organizing performances, and fostering students’ creativity. This role offers a great opportunity to make a difference by providing quality education to bright students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Curriculum Implementation
- Develop and deliver engaging music lessons based on the NECTA curriculum.
- Organize and lead practical music sessions to enhance students’ musical skills.
- Prepare lesson plans, assessments, and teaching materials.
Student Development & Mentorship
- Identify students’ musical strengths and provide guidance to nurture their talents.
- Offer additional support to students requiring extra help in music.
- Encourage students to participate in school music programs and performances.
Event & Performance Coordination
- Plan and oversee school concerts, talent shows, and other music-related events.
- Ensure students have access to the necessary instruments and resources.
- Collaborate with other teachers to integrate music into school activities.
Technology & Resource Management
- Utilize music technology and software to enhance learning.
- Maintain and manage musical instruments and classroom resources.
- Adapt to the school’s policies, including working on weekends if required.
Required Qualifications
Requirement | Details |

Education | Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in Music, Arts & Design, Theater, or a related field |
Experience | Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in secondary school or a music institution |
Skills | Strong lesson planning, classroom management, and student mentorship skills |

Additional Requirements | Knowledge of the NECTA curriculum, professionalism, and adaptability to school policies |
