Position Overview
Uwezo Tanzania is seeking a Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Consultant to design, implement, and manage the monitoring and evaluation, research, and learning framework for various projects. The consultant will play a key role in improving data collection methods and ensuring project outcomes are measured effectively.
This role involves working closely with Uwezo staff, partner organizations, and project stakeholders to enhance the monitoring and evaluation system. The M&E Consultant will report directly to the Executive Director (ED).
Key Responsibilities
Monitoring and Evaluation
- Develop and implement project-specific monitoring and evaluation plans in line with project documentation.
- Monitor all project activities and assess progress toward achieving project outputs.
- Support the installation of an M&E culture across Uwezo staff and partner staff.
- Assist in designing M&E tools, surveys, and evaluation systems to capture qualitative and quantitative data.
- Provide input and statistical information for quarterly, annual, and other required reports for the Project Management Team.
Research and Data Analysis
- Support research and advocacy efforts through data collection, analysis, and documentation of findings.
- Assist program staff in producing quality donor and government reports.
- Contribute to strategic working documents, including fundraising proposals and organizational profiles.
Capacity Building and Support
- Conduct capacity assessments on existing M&E systems and develop indicators and monitoring strategies.
- Facilitate training and build the capacity of staff on M&E best practices.
- Participate in project reviews and planning workshops, assisting in the preparation of relevant reports.
Collaboration and Coordination
- Coordinate effectively with various project components to ensure smooth implementation of M&E activities.
- Support the development and continuous improvement of the M&E system, ensuring its efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications and Experience Requirements
Requirement | Details |

Education | Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, or related fields |
Experience | At least 2 years of work experience in monitoring and evaluation of development programs |
Skills & Abilities | Proficient in Windows Excel and quantitative analysis; experience designing M&E tools and surveys; demonstrated capacity-building skills |
Communication | Fluent in both Kiswahili and English, both written and verbal communication |
Travel | Willing and able to travel extensively within Tanzania |
Other | Experience in NGOs is a plus |
