Job Summary
NORPLAN Tanzania Ltd, a registered local consulting firm specializing in multidisciplinary engineering services, is expanding its operations. We are looking for a qualified Mechanical Rotating & Static Equipment Specialist to oversee and ensure the quality and compliance of piping and mechanical construction activities. This role will serve as a key link between field engineering and site supervision, ensuring all project activities align with safety, quality, and engineering standards.
Key Responsibilities
Construction & Project Assurance
- Ensure all piping and mechanical works are carried out using safe working practices and are completed per project codes, standards, drawings, and specifications.
- Support contractors in delivering pipeline projects, associated facilities, and infrastructure on time and within budget.
- Conduct compliance checks on contractor-submitted documents, including ITPs, QCPs, and SOPs.
- Perform routine reviews of materials, equipment, and installations to ensure project integrity.
Inspection & Quality Control
- Monitor and supervise pipe-to-pipe flange management and bolt torque activities.
- Oversee field inspections related to flange alignments, bolt torque, and placement of static equipment.
- Maintain and update databases and records of piping/mechanical reports and compliance audits.
Performance Analysis & Reporting
- Analyze construction metrics to generate accurate KPIs and identify potential non-compliance risks.
- Ensure contractor mechanical document deliverables align with company quality standards.
Required Qualifications
Requirement | Details |
---|---|
Education & Certification | Certified as a piping and/or mechanical inspector or rotating inspector through ASQ, AWS, CSWIP, PCN, or another recognized international certification scheme. |
Experience | Minimum of 12 years of experience in piping/mechanical inspection within the oil & gas sector. |
Technical Expertise | Knowledge of construction quality assurance, industry codes (API 1104/650/686, ASME V, IX, B31.1, B31.3, PCC-1), and construction methodologies. |
Software Proficiency | Experience with industry applications such as Assure, OMIE, Aconex, PowerBI, P6, CMT, SharePoint, Adobe, and MS Office. |
Engineering Knowledge | Familiarity with upstream oil & gas surface facilities, including pipelines, process piping, skid equipment, pumps, compressors, tanks, and electrical & instrumentation (E&I) interfaces. |
