Role Overview
As a Market Access Associate, you will play a crucial role in developing strategies to enhance market access for farmers in the fruit, nut, and spice sectors. Your responsibilities will include research, partnership development, certification processes, and farmer training, all aimed at achieving significant scale targets over the next five years. You will report directly to the Country Director.
Key Responsibilities
- Market Access Strategy & Implementation: Design and execute strategies to connect farmers with value chains and market opportunities.
- Research & Pipeline Development: Identify promising products and partners, manage research databases, and track market trends.
- Partnership Development & Due Diligence: Vet potential SMEs and partners to ensure they align with value chain needs.
- Certification & Compliance: Establish and oversee crop certification processes, providing training and support to farmers.
- Farmer Training & Aggregation: Train entrepreneurs for aggregation and improve farmer training for adoption.
- Monitoring & Evaluation: Analyze data, track progress, and generate market reports.

Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you should have:
- A graduate degree in business administration, marketing, agriculture, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in business development, market access, or value chain development, specifically in fruits, nuts, and spices.
- Connections with key players in commercialization, including buyers and SMEs, are advantageous.
- Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets, with a strong understanding of the Tanzanian agricultural landscape.
- Flexibility to travel across Tanzania and proficiency in Swahili and English.
