Job Overview
UNCDF is hiring a Local Climate Finance Specialist to lead the implementation of the LoCAL program in Tanzania. The role involves managing climate finance initiatives, advising government counterparts, and developing partnerships to scale up climate resilience projects at the local level.
Key Responsibilities
- Program Management
- Oversee program implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.
- Build partnerships with national and international stakeholders.
- Coordinate audits and evaluations for project effectiveness.
- Team Leadership
- Supervise program staff and ensure performance management.
- Provide coaching and mentoring for team development.
- Policy & Technical Advisory
- Advise government agencies on climate finance policies.
- Support accreditation processes for climate funding mechanisms.
- Knowledge Management & Communication
- Develop reports, knowledge products, and communication strategies.
- Organize training and workshops on climate finance.
- Partnership & Networking
- Represent UNCDF in working groups and committees.
- Drive resource mobilization efforts for climate projects.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education:
- Master’s Degree in Climate Change, Environment, Business Administration, International Relations, Development, or a related field.
- A Bachelor’s Degree with an additional two years of experience will be considered.
- Work Experience:
- 7+ years (with Master’s) or 9+ years (with Bachelor’s) in project management related to climate change.
- 3+ years of experience in policy, regulatory, and technical advisory services.
- Previous work experience in Tanzania or Africa is required.
- Skills:
- Experience in local economic development and decentralization.
- Strong networking and partnership-building skills.
- Knowledge of UN climate finance mechanisms (GCF, AF).
- Languages:
- Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
