We are currently recruiting for a Liaison Medical Officer to be based in Dar es Salaam on a 12-month contract with the possibility of extension.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise the EACOP Medical Support Manager on health policies, medical regulations, and laws in Tanzania.
- Act as a full-time physician for EACOP with GP experience and expertise in occupational health and emergency care.
- Support MEDEVAC planning and coordination.
- Liaise with medical teams handling hospitalized patients.
- Coordinate and inform HR about Fitness Certificates for EACOP staff.
- Oversee Fitness to Work plans to ensure compliance with national health regulations.
- Assess Tanzanian occupational health providers to ensure high-quality medical care for workers.
- Participate in health awareness and prevention campaigns.
- Develop and update the EACOP Health and Hygiene Management System (including malaria, pandemic, and epidemic management plans).
- Attend EACOP meetings and external events.
- Set up and coordinate a medical support system aligned with international standards.
- Assess and recommend new health facilities for EACOP use.
- Provide medical advice and assistance to EACOP offices and field sites.
- Oversee contractor medical facilities and ensure compliance with health regulations.
Qualifications & Experience
Professional Experience
- Doctor of Medicine (BSc) required.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in medical care and emergency response.
Technical Competencies
- Knowledge of tropical diseases and African healthcare systems.
- Experience in Occupational Health and Fitness to Work policies.
- Familiarity with Tanzanian medical facilities and regulations.
- Background in clinical medicine and remote site healthcare.
- Understanding of international medical best practices.
- Experience in the oil & gas industry is an added advantage.
Behavioral Competencies
- Ability to work in a multicultural business setting.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Fluent in English and Kiswahili (written and spoken).
