Job Summary

BRAC Tanzania Finance Ltd (BTFL), the largest microfinance institution in Tanzania, is seeking an experienced Learning and Development Manager to lead its training and development initiatives. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing learning strategies, identifying training needs, and ensuring that employees are equipped with the necessary skills to enhance performance and career growth.

This role plays a critical part in shaping BTFL’s learning culture by developing leadership, technical, and soft skills programs while ensuring compliance with legal and industry standards.


Key Responsibilities

Learning Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive Learning & Development (L&D) strategy aligned with BTFL’s business goals.
  • Assess training needs through surveys, interviews, and consultations with department heads.
  • Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure training effectiveness and impact.

Training Program Development & Implementation

  • Design and implement leadership, technical, and soft skills training programs.
  • Identify and collaborate with external training providers when necessary.
  • Utilize varied learning methodologies, including e-learning, workshops, coaching, and blended learning.

Employee Development & Career Growth

  • Develop and implement mentorship and coaching programs to support career advancement.
  • Work closely with managers to identify high-potential employees and create personalized development plans.
  • Promote a continuous learning culture, encouraging self-directed learning initiatives.

Learning Technology & Innovation

  • Manage and optimize Learning Management Systems (LMS) and other digital learning platforms.
  • Integrate new learning technologies to enhance employee development.

Training Evaluation & Continuous Improvement

  • Conduct post-training assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of learning programs.
  • Collect and analyze employee feedback to refine training content and delivery methods.
  • Prepare and present L&D reports and Return on Investment (ROI) analysis to senior management.

Compliance & Organizational Development

  • Ensure training programs comply with legal and industry regulations.
  • Support change management initiatives through targeted training programs.
  • Foster a diverse and inclusive learning environment within the organization.

Safeguarding Responsibilities

  • Ensure team members are protected from harm, abuse, neglect, harassment, and exploitation.
  • Promote safeguarding policies and implement best practices to establish a safe working environment.
  • Follow and encourage adherence to the safeguarding reporting procedures in case of any incidents.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Requirement Details
Education Master’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field
Experience Minimum 7 years in Learning & Development or Training
L&D Expertise Experience in designing and implementing strategic L&D programs
Technical Skills Proficiency in Learning Management Systems (LMS) and e-learning tools
Soft Skills Strong leadership, facilitation, coaching, and stakeholder management abilities
Other Skills Analytical mindset, presentation skills, and familiarity with digital learning trends
