The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is seeking two dedicated Child Protection Officers for its Restoring Family Links (RFL) program in Tanzania. This role is vital in ensuring the safety and reunification of unaccompanied and separated children within the refugee community.

Role Overview

Position: Child Protection Officer – Restoring Family Links
Location: Kibondo and Kasulu

Reporting to: Child Protection Team Leader

As a Child Protection Officer – Restoring Family Links, you will play a crucial role in managing child protection activities, particularly focusing on identifying and reuniting unaccompanied and separated children with their families. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Tracing and Reunification: Manage requests for tracing unaccompanied and separated children, conduct interviews, and develop tools and methods for tracing family members.
  • Coordination and Advocacy: Organize family reunifications, advocate for the rights of children, and raise awareness within the refugee community.
  • Data Management and Reporting: Analyze data, maintain accurate case files, and prepare reports for the Bid panel.
  • Collaboration: Work with local authorities, community groups, and other agencies to support tracing efforts and participate in meetings and training workshops.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience: Minimum 3 years in a similar role or relevant humanitarian action; previous experience with international organizations is preferred.
  • Education: University degree in Law, Human Rights, Sociology, Social Work, Education, or related field.
  • Skills: Advanced computer skills, excellent communication abilities in English and Swahili (knowledge of Kirundi is a plus), and the ability to work independently and under pressure.
