Job Summary

Capital Limited (CMS Tanzania) is a highly respected mineral exploration drilling company operating in Tanzania. As an industry leader in safety, we are looking for a dedicated and professional HSE Officer to join our team at the Nyanzaga Site.

The HSE Officer will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations, conducting risk assessments, training employees, and maintaining high safety standards at the site. This role is ideal for a proactive individual who can lead safety initiatives and contribute to our mission of maintaining a safe and sustainable working environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide training, advice, and support to management, supervisors, and employees on HSE policies and best practices.
• Conduct Job Safety Analyses (JSA) and Continuous Risk Assessments to develop Safe Work Procedures (SWP) and Safe Operating Procedures (SOP).
• Respond to unsafe conditions, hazard reports, and emergency cases, ensuring timely resolutions.
• Coordinate medical screenings, including pre-employment, periodic, and exit medical checks in compliance with OSHA/WIMS portal requirements.
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals and hazardous substances.
• Serve as the Hazardous Waste Disposal Officer, overseeing hazardous material storage and compliance with regulatory standards.
• Maintain and track all hazard reports, ensuring timely closure and resolution.
• Ensure the company’s safety system aligns with ISO Standards and Tanzania OSHA regulations.

Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Certifications: OSHA Basic Training certification is required.
• Experience:
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in an HSE role, preferably in the mining or drilling industry.
  • Strong knowledge of Tanzania OSHA regulations and ISO Standards.
• Skills:
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Strong communication skills in English and Swahili (written and verbal).
  • Ability to work in multinational and culturally diverse environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
