Job Summary
Absa Bank Tanzania is seeking a Head of SME & Enterprise and Supply Chain Development (ESD) to lead and drive the strategic direction of SME banking. The successful candidate will play a critical role in developing the SME Customer Value Proposition (CVP), aligning products and services with customer needs, and mobilizing resources to enhance financial solutions.
This role involves overseeing SME banking operations, managing business development strategies, ensuring compliance with risk and control policies, and leading a dynamic team to foster enterprise growth. The Head of SME & ESD will be responsible for identifying opportunities, driving revenue growth, and positioning Absa as a market leader in SME and supply chain financing.
Key Responsibilities
1. Sales & Customer Service (30%)
- Grow the SME portfolio by identifying new and existing customer opportunities.
- Formulate and execute business development strategies that align with market needs.
- Ensure high-quality service delivery and adherence to customer satisfaction standards.
- Monitor customer complaints, service quality, and survey results.
- Keep clients informed on product offerings, service timelines, and changes.
2. Business & Risk Management (40%)
- Provide expert recommendations on SME credit applications and work closely with the SME Credit Team.
- Stay updated on industry trends, market dynamics, and competitor activities.
- Maintain a strong risk management culture across SME banking operations.
- Manage team performance against key financial, operational, and service targets.
- Oversee segmentation and portfolio management strategies.
3. Leadership & Staff Management (30%)
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing SME banking team.
- Conduct regular training and development sessions to enhance team capabilities.
- Monitor individual and team performance through structured reviews.
- Foster a collaborative and performance-driven work environment.
Risk & Compliance
- Embed a positive risk culture within the SME banking division.
- Ensure adherence to Absa’s policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Report all risk incidents and contribute to developing solutions for risk prevention.
- Engage proactively with regulatory bodies and industry stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or a related field (NQF Level 6).
- Experience: Minimum 10 years in financial services, including:
- 3 years in senior management.
- 5 years in a client-facing banking role.
- Strong leadership skills, with experience managing diverse teams in a dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of risk management, strategic planning, and commercial banking.
