Job Purpose

The Head of Digital Banking will be responsible for shaping and executing the bank’s digital strategy, driving innovation, and enhancing customer experience through digital channels, digital products and services. This role involves all assets, liabilities and transactional digital product development, ensuring seamless integration of digital services, and spearheading initiatives that optimize digital banking solutions to drive digital adoption, financial inclusion, enhanced usage, and revenue growth.

The position is responsible for building strategic partnerships with fintechs, telcos, payment service providers, and other ecosystem players to expand the bank’s digital footprint and unlock new business opportunities. The Head of Digital Banking will also engage with key stakeholders, including regulators and industry bodies, to ensure compliance, drive advocacy, and position the bank as a leader in digital financial services.

This role requires a visionary leader with a strong grasp of market trends, regulatory landscapes, and evolving customer expectations to drive the bank’s digital transformation agenda successfully.

Principle Responsibilities

1. Digital Strategy & Digital Innovation

  • Develop and execute the bank’s digital banking strategy in alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Identify and implement emerging digital trends, technologies, and best practices.
  • Lead innovation initiatives to enhance the bank’s digital presence, customer engagement, and competitive positioning.

2. Product Development & Management

  • Oversee development and management of digital products: mobile banking, internet banking, and digital wallets.
  • Ensure integration of digital platforms with banking systems and financial ecosystems.
  • Collaborate with IT, operations, and marketing for effective product rollout.

3. Customer Experience & Engagement

  • Enhance user experience to drive digital adoption.
  • Analyze behaviors and feedback to optimize digital offerings.
  • Ensure seamless and secure omnichannel experience.

4. Revenue Growth & Business Development

  • Identify monetization opportunities for digital services.
  • Develop partnerships with fintechs and payment service providers.
  • Drive customer acquisition and retention via digital channels.

5. Risk & Compliance Management

  • Ensure regulatory compliance of digital platforms.
  • Implement risk mitigation strategies for digital transactions.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity and compliance teams.

6. Leadership & Team Management

  • Promote digital adoption across teams.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing digital team.
  • Provide strategic direction and mentorship.

7. Reporting and Regulatory Compliance

  • Build strong relationships with regulatory bodies.
  • Ensure full compliance with laws, including AML regulations.
  • Prepare reports and insights for internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field (Master’s preferred)
  • Proven leadership in digital banking
  • Experience with fintech, payment processors, and digital service providers
  • Strong analytical and project management skills
