About Blue Alliance

Blue Alliance is a non-profit organization dedicated to marine conservation and sustainable economic development. In partnership with the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar, we establish and manage Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) to restore coral reef ecosystems and foster innovative Blue Economy businesses that contribute to reef conservation.

We are currently hiring a Finance & Administration Officer to support financial management, reporting, compliance, and administrative operations.


Job Summary

The Finance & Administration Officer will be responsible for overseeing financial transactions, ensuring regulatory compliance, and managing office administration tasks. This role is vital in maintaining financial integrity and efficient office operations within Blue Alliance.


Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Prepare purchase orders for organizational activities and procurement.
  • Ensure timely payment processing after PO approvals.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and accounts payable/receivable balances.
  • Assist in monthly financial verifications and closing procedures.

Compliance & Internal Controls

  • Ensure compliance with statutory financial regulations.
  • File all statutory obligations (TRA, ZRA, ZSSF) on time.
  • Stay updated on tax laws, levies, and regulatory requirements in Zanzibar.
  • Implement internal controls to safeguard assets and prevent fraud.
  • Support internal and external audit processes by providing necessary documentation.

Administrative & Office Management

  • Provide administrative support to teams, including scheduling meetings and handling correspondence.
  • Arrange travel, transport, and accommodation for staff.
  • Manage office assets, including vehicles, motorcycles, utilities, and fixed asset registries.
  • Organize company events, workshops, and conferences.
  • Ensure compliance with administrative policies and report non-compliance issues.
  • Maintain both online and hardcopy filing systems.

Procurement Coordination

  • Facilitate purchase order creation and dispatch.
  • Oversee procurement processes, ensuring adherence to organizational policies.
  • Use appropriate forms and follow procurement procedures for purchases and contracts.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Requirement Details
Education Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
Experience Minimum of 2 years in accounting, finance, or auditing
Technical Skills Proficiency in accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, SAP) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Soft Skills Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, high attention to detail, and excellent communication skills
Regulatory Knowledge Understanding of Zanzibar tax laws and financial regulations (preferred)
