Who We’re Looking For

  • Leadership & Team Management: Ability to inspire and guide a team, delegate tasks effectively, and foster a cooperative working environment.
  • Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills to diagnose issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Attention to Detail: Commitment to maintaining high standards in all facilities-related activities.
  • Organizational Skills: Efficiently manage multiple projects, schedules, and tasks.
  • Adaptability: Capable of responding swiftly to changing circumstances and emergencies.

Responsibilities

  • Maintenance Oversight: Address emergency repairs and maintenance issues promptly, ensuring effective operation of the Maintenance Helpdesks.
  • Collaboration: Report directly to the Facilities Manager, working closely with academic and head office teams, and other departments.
  • Performance Metrics: Ensure timely execution of annual maintenance plans and improved procedures related to your role.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Develop and enhance annual preventive maintenance schedules for buildings, equipment, and landscapes.
  • Standard Operating Procedures: Create, implement, and continually improve standard operating procedures for maintenance staff.

Qualifications

  • Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technical fields (Electrical, Civil, Property & Facilities Management, etc.).
  • Experience: At least 3 years of relevant experience in a large facility or maintenance department, including direct supervision of maintenance staff.
  • Communication Skills: Proficiency in English and Swahili.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong ability to collaborate with other departments.
  • Leadership: Proven skills in managing teams of maintenance workers.
  • Independence: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Travel: Willingness to frequently travel between the School’s three campuses.
