Job Overview

Standard Bank Group Limited is seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to join their team in Dar es Salaam as a Custodian, Asset. This role involves ensuring the security and management of various assets, including treasury cash, safe custody items, and branch stationery.

Key Responsibilities

Asset Custodianship:

• Safeguard treasury cash, reserve stocks of traveller’s cheques, blank forms, and ATM keys.
• Maintain custody of safe custody items, securities, and duplicate key receipts.
• Oversee the control and logging of safe custody and security items.
• Ensure accurate revenue recoveries and handle bank chequebooks in reserve stock.
• Manage vault lockers and trace untracked safe custody items.

Cash Handling:

• Adhere to correct procedures for handling and moving cash assets within the branch.
• Ensure security protocols are followed when cash is transferred to agencies, the Central Bank (BOT), and during bulk cash collections.
• Order and clear surplus cash, receive notes and coins from tellers for vault lodgement.
• Monitor cash trends and maintain holdings within prescribed limits.
• Control seals for cash clearance bags and materials.
• Assist with surprise checks of tellers.

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or related fields.

Experience Required:

• 5-7 years of experience in branch banking, policies, procedures, and team management.
• Experience with main market clients and personal/private banking.
