Knauf Gypsum Tanzania Limited is part of the global Knauf Group, a manufacturer of construction materials, and is looking for a Cost Accountant to join their team at their HQ Office. This is a great opportunity for someone passionate, ambitious, and willing to grow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect cost information and maintain an expenses database.
  • Plan and record variable and fixed costs.
  • Analyze and review manufacturing costs and prepare regular reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs for inaccuracies.
  • Estimate new and proposed product costs.
  • Maintain customer and supplier master data supported with duly filled forms and business certificates.
  • Proper allocation of expenses among ledgers and cost centers before month-end closure.
  • Monitor the monthly unit cost of production by working closely with the production team.
  • Facilitate and coordinate the budgeting process by working with cost center owners.
  • Conduct monthly inventory control by ensuring reconciliations are performed and variances are resolved before the following month’s end.
  • Identify non-moving items in stock and compute obsolete provisions as per Knauf standards.
  • Perform monthly closing in SAP in compliance with Group requirements and reporting timelines.
  • Analyze and report profit margins.
  • Liaise with regional and central office functional counterparts for all accounting-related compliance issues.
  • Support report preparation for local and regional monthly meetings.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in Accounts/Finance or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of post-qualification experience.
  • Knowledge of IFRS.
  • Proficiency in SAP.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing accounting processes and cost drivers in production.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams and build relationships.
  • Excellent data analysis and interpretation skills.
  • Proactive, flexible, and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and adjust to changing priorities.
  • Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
