Role Overview

We are looking for a Branch Warehouse Manager (BWM) to oversee warehouse operations in Mwanza. The BWM will have full ownership of warehouse performance and last-mile logistics. This includes overseeing warehouse objectives, key results, performance reports, team structure, and people management. The BWM will manage a minimum of 2 direct reports and up to 30 indirect reports.

The role involves supporting and managing the fulfillment center and transport teams in the branch, ensuring they have everything needed to maintain optimal performance. The BWM will also ensure that operational activities align with safety guidelines, cost targets, standard processes, and company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead warehouse teams by equipping and supporting them to deliver on their responsibilities.
  • Set an example and ensure compliance with all warehouse operations work instructions, policies, and SOPs.
  • Empower teams to make data-driven decisions.
  • Ensure operational objectives and key results are met and exceeded.
  • Deliver world-class customer service with a “Customer is King” approach.
  • Develop, recommend, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency.
  • Oversee inventory and cash reconciliation processes to minimize business risks.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders for new business development, projects, and process changes.
  • Train and develop employees, ensuring continuous upskilling.
  • Create a workplace culture that promotes integrity, accountability, and a winning attitude.

Requirements

  • Degree in Transport & Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Operations, Business Administration, or a relevant field. An Advanced Diploma with experience in logistics is also acceptable.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in transportation and logistics.
  • Strong financial acumen and understanding of cost efficiency.
  • Hands-on experience with logistics and transport management systems.
  • Strong leadership, people management, and coordination skills.
  • High emotional intelligence and excellent geographical knowledge of the region.
  • Ability to coach, train, and lead teams effectively.
  • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects.
  • Goal-oriented, assertive, and a practical problem solver.
  • Extensive knowledge of last-mile logistics, inventory management, ERP processes, warehouse management, and FMCG operations.
