Position: Vocational Skills Training Development Coordinator

Background

Skills for Employment Tanzania (SET) is a project financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) through the Embassy of Switzerland in Tanzania. It aims to enhance youth (self-) employment for the Vocational Skills Development system. The project supports the government and private sector stakeholders to expand access to quality training that matches the demand from both the economy and youth.

Swisscontact is currently looking for a Vocational Skills Training Development Coordinator, to be based in Morogoro with irregular travel to other locations within Tanzania.

Responsibilities and Tasks

Under the supervision and support of the Vocational Skills Development and Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Manager, the successful candidate will have the following responsibilities and tasks:

Responsibilities

  • Organize and support non-formal vocational skills program revision and development.
  • Implement Labour Market Analysis (LMA) studies with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support capacity building of public and private stakeholders.
  • Ensure dissemination and use of developed documentation.
  • Follow Swisscontact’s rules and procedures such as the Code of Conduct (CoC).

Tasks

1. Non-formal Vocational Skill Program Revision and Development (50%)

  • Organize and support the revision/development of non-formal vocational training programs.
  • Ensure alignment with national requirements and industry best practices.
  • Facilitate the dissemination and implementation of training packages.

2. Labour Market Analysis (40%)

  • Implement LMA studies at the local level focusing on youth needs.
  • Identify skills gaps and future skills needs.
  • Develop a knowledge hub for non-formal vocational skills development (VSD) in Tanzania.

3. Other Tasks (10%)

  • Collaborate with youth training coordinators.
  • Provide inputs for SET reporting.
  • Ensure Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) and climate change considerations in LMA and training programs.

Required Qualifications, Experience, and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Education, Economics, Project Management, or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of experience in training program development.
  • Strong experience in Labour Market Analysis (LMA) and capacity building.
  • Experience in collaborating with government and private sector stakeholders.
  • Strong writing skills in English and Swahili.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) skills.

Workplace

The main place of work will be Morogoro, with regular visits to other places in Tanzania.
