Job Summary
Geita Gold Mining Ltd (GGML), a leading gold producer in Tanzania, is seeking a Superintendent 1 for Warehousing & Logistics. The role involves overseeing all warehouse and logistics activities to ensure the safe receipt, storage, and distribution of supplies. This position requires a strong focus on efficiency, safety, and environmental sustainability, alongside managing staff and resources effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Warehousing & Logistics Management
- Oversee warehouse activities including expediting, receiving, safekeeping, auditing, and issuing materials.
- Manage Senior Supervisors and staff to deliver operational targets and ensure effective warehouse performance.
- Monitor and improve logistics operations to ensure timely delivery and compliance with safety standards.
- Ensure safe storage and movement of materials, and conduct regular stock taking and audits.
Performance Monitoring & Improvement
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for both warehouse and logistics operations.
- Provide training and coaching to staff to improve knowledge, understanding, and capabilities.
- Lead the development and execution of action plans to meet performance targets and operational goals.
- Oversee the timely shipping of goods and ensure compliance with safety rules during transportation.
Safety & Environmental Compliance
- Champion safety and environmental awareness by conducting training and managing logistics routes.
- Ensure that all safety protocols are adhered to by staff and freight forwarders.
- Document safety incidents and communicate lessons learned to improve safety and environmental procedures.
Vendor & Stakeholder Coordination
- Manage relationships with various external entities such as government bodies, freight forwarders, and customs authorities to ensure smooth logistics processes.
- Oversee cargo clearance and shipping activities to ensure timely and safe delivery of materials.
- Expedite clearance of goods and materials, ensuring compliance with customs regulations.
Operational Leadership
- Provide direct management support to employees regarding training, leave, and any employment-related matters.
- Ensure that warehouse and logistics operations are aligned with company goals and objectives.
- Provide support in resolving day-to-day operational issues and contribute to long-term operational planning.
Required Qualifications

Education | Bachelor’s degree or Advanced Diploma in Materials Management, Procurement & Supply Chain Management, or related fields |
Certifications | Registered with PSPTB (Public Procurement and Supplies Professional and Technicians Board) |
Experience | Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Warehousing and Logistics, preferably in the mining or large-scale industries |
Technical Skills | Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred), Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) |
Leadership | Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage teams effectively |
