POSITION OBJECTIVE
The Project Manager for the “A Good Start” project will lead and oversee the implementation of initiatives aimed at reducing perinatal and neonatal deaths and enhancing neonatal care quality in rural Tanzania. The role involves working closely with clinical teams, health authorities, and research institutions to achieve project goals.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Implementation, Steering, and Technical Support
- Lead and track the project’s implementation and progress.
- Develop work plans and reports according to milestones and donor requirements.
- Prepare and ensure the validity of all project legal documents (e.g., MOUs with authorities).
- Proactively share ideas for evidence-based project development.

Human Resource, Administration, Finance, and Procurement
- Lead, manage, and coach the project team, including staff recruitment.
- Manage project resources effectively (human, financial, materials).
- Ensure efficient management of the project budget.

Monitoring, Research, and Reporting
- Oversee project monitoring, data analysis, and use for decision-making.
- Lead operational research, including publication writing and result dissemination.
- Prepare quality reports for timely submission to authorities and donors.

Partnership, Representation, Coordination, and Policy Dialogue
- Ensure participation of relevant staff, stakeholders, and authorities in project management steps.
- Seek new partnerships and networks, and conduct policy dialogues.
- Promote SolidarMed’s visibility locally, nationally, and internationally.
YOUR PROFILE
- Medical Doctor/Pediatrician/Nurse Midwife with at least 5 years of clinical experience in maternal and neonatal health, preferably in Sub-Saharan Africa.
- Experience in applying project management tools, including financial and human resource management.
- Strong organizational, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Expertise in managing multiple complex processes independently.
- Proven experience in strategic planning and critical thinking.
- Skilled in project budgeting and cost optimization across multiple donors.
- Team player with good interpersonal skills.
- Creative, open-minded, flexible, and a self-learner.
- Experience in knowledge sharing, networking, and scientific exchange.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken); knowledge of Kiswahili is an asset and willingness to learn is required.
