JOB SUMMARY

The Post Write Off Recoveries Officer is responsible for managing, controlling, and monitoring the post write-off portfolio through cost-effective legal recovery of outstanding bad debt exposure. This is done by instructing third-party professional service providers and ensuring appropriate treatment of these accounts.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operational Management: Negotiate payment arrangements to maximize recovery on delinquent accounts.
  • Customer and Stakeholder Relations: Maintain effective and professional working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Legal Risk Management: Pro-actively manage legal risks associated with the legal recovery portfolio to maximize possible recoveries.
  • Vendor Relations: Manage service providers through regular communication and prompt follow-up.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to all legislative and compliance requirements, internal mandates, policies, and procedures.
  • Reporting: Provide management with accurate reports and suggestions to improve customer service and meet targets.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in collections, preferably in post write-off for financial institutions.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Preferred: Experience in product knowledge (cards & loans).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Finance, Banking, or Risk.

KEY COMPETENCIES

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage and deliver multiple work streams and priorities simultaneously.
  • High level of integrity and honesty.
  • Knowledge of the banking environment, strategy formulation, and risk management.
  • Experience in stakeholder management and conflict resolution.
