Job Summary
CRDB Bank is seeking a Senior Specialist – Shariah Quality Assurance to ensure all operations and transactions within the Islamic Banking Unit comply with Shariah principles. This role involves monitoring financing transactions, reviewing documentation, and working closely with internal auditors and compliance teams to uphold the highest Shariah standards in banking.
Key Responsibilities
Shariah Compliance & Monitoring
- Ensure all financing transactions and deposit accounts adhere to approved Shariah-compliant processes.
- Monitor executed deals and transactions, verifying documentation aligns with Shariah principles.
- Identify and report any violations of Shariah compliance and recommend corrective actions.
Auditing & Risk Management
- Collaborate with Internal Audit, Islamic Banking Managers, and Compliance teams during periodic audits.
- Review reports from Audit, Compliance, and Risk departments and ensure proper implementation of corrective measures.
- Analyze findings from internal auditors, external auditors, and regulatory examiners, addressing root causes of non-compliance.
- Manage and update the Islamic Banking Unit Risk Register to track compliance risks.
Product Development & Process Improvement
- Assist in the development of Shariah-compliant banking products.
- Support the creation and review of Islamic Banking policy documents, procedure manuals, and user guides.
Qualifications & Experience
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Banking, Finance, Islamic Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in banking operations, with exposure to Islamic banking preferred.
Key Skills
- Strong understanding of Shariah banking principles and compliance processes.
- Experience in audit, risk management, and regulatory compliance in the banking sector.
- Analytical skills to review documentation and transaction compliance.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments, including Audit, Risk, and Compliance teams.
