Who We Are Looking For

The Global Good Fund Fellowship is designed for innovators, entrepreneurs, and leaders of both for-profit and non-profit social impact organizations. This program targets emerging leaders and entrepreneurs from diverse ethnic, religious, economic, geographic, and gender backgrounds. Ideal candidates are deeply committed to self-discovery and development, and must hold a full-time leadership position at a social enterprise that has been operational for ideally two to five years.

How We Select

We seek leaders who are scaling their enterprises and looking to develop their leadership capacity in alignment with their organization’s needs. Candidates should be eager to receive coaching, possess a growth mindset, and be excited about personalized mentorship that will drive their business and teams to success. Ideal applicants must fully commit to our 12-month hybrid program.

Our Application Process

Phase I: Preliminary Questionnaire (May – June)

• A series of short-answer questions to assess alignment with our Fellowship criteria.
• Estimated completion time: 30 minutes.

Phase II: Comprehensive Application (July – August)

• Mandatory video submission to share your story.
• Two recommendation letters.
• Financial viability template.
• Short answer questions on:
  • Impact measurement
  • Unique aspects of your enterprise
  • Leadership potential and coachability
• Estimated completion time: 1-2 hours.

Phase III: Interview (October – November)

• A 30-minute video interview.
• Candidates should invite one colleague or community member to attest to their work.

Eligibility Criteria

• The enterprise must have been in operation for a minimum of two years.
• The enterprise must employ at least two full-time, paid employees.
• The candidate must be a primary decision-maker (e.g., C-Suite, Co-Founder, Executive Director).
• The candidate must be fully committed to running the enterprise.
• The enterprise must be mission-driven, aiming for societal impact beyond profit.

Additional Considerations

• The enterprise can be for-profit, non-profit, or a hybrid.
• The enterprise’s scope of work can be international, domestic, or both.
• The enterprise should have an effective business model and potential for long-term scaling.
• The enterprise should address issues in sectors such as Financial Inclusion, Environment, Education, Economic Mobility, and Health. Other sectors may be considered based on potential for social impact and systemic change.
• Candidates should not be receiving formal coaching or mentoring support from other fellowships during the same cycle.

FAQs

What if you do not fit all the criteria?

• You can still apply! Be explicit in your application about why you should be considered for the Fellowship.

How many Fellows do you select?

• There is no set number; it varies year to year. We aim to support as many entrepreneurs as possible.

Can I apply if I have an idea of starting a business or if my business is a start-up?

• No, the business must be operational beyond the MVP stage and ready to scale.

If I’m unsure I meet the criteria, can I connect with someone to talk about it?

• Please read our eligibility criteria and additional supporting information on our website before emailing us at sandra.waithaka@globalgoodfund.org. We are not able to take calls. Reach out to our alumni for insights.

Can my co-founders apply with me?

• Co-founders can apply, but applications are considered individually.

Can I apply if I’m not working full-time at my enterprise?

• No, full-time dedication to the enterprise is required.

My English is far from perfect, can I still apply?

• Yes, as long as you can communicate and hold a business conversation in English.

I wasn’t selected, can I receive feedback on my application?

• Due to the high volume of applications, we cannot provide individual feedback. However, we encourage you to reapply, as many selected Fellows applied more than once.

If I reached the interview stage but wasn’t selected, do I need to complete Phase 1 again?

• No, you will automatically qualify for Phase 2 the following year.

Are there other programs I can be considered for if I don’t get selected for the Fellowship?

• Yes, candidates reaching the interview stage but not selected for the Fellowship will be considered for our LEAP Program.
